Powder in Space Release Party with Powder, Tim Sweeney, Jex Opolis, 5ive
Tim Sweeney is launching a new Beats In Space mix series with Tokyo-based DJ and producer Powder handling the first one (out February 15). They're celebrating at Good Room with the Powder in Space Release Party on March 23. Powder is an alchemist of time. Her ceremonious DJ sets invite listeners and dancers to extend their imaginations to abstracted spaces, while allowing the body to vessel the voyage in free, flowing style. Playful, thoughtful, and natural without knowing, Powder’s crates encourage abandonment of arbitrary boundaries and expectations surrounding genre, movement, schedule, and societal convention to revel, spirited and harmonious, in the passage of time.
The release of Powder In Space coincides with the 20th anniversary of the Beats In Space radio show, which broadcasts on WNYU 89.1FM on Tuesday nights. The 18-track mix, available as a mix CD and digitally in mixed or unmixed format, will be accompanied by a 12-inch with four tracks from the mix. That will include two new Powder tracks, "New Tribe" and "Gift," a new track from Samo DJ & The Hidden Operator called "Захват Сзади Rox" and the 1993 Daphne classic, "When You Love Someone (Groove Instrumental)," which hasn't been reissued since its release.
The party will also see Jex Opolis and 5ive play in the Bad Room. Both serious selectors with big record collections, the pair will taking us on a late night dancefloor journey.
