MUTEK San Francisco’s programming continues with A/Visions 2 at the historic Herbst Theatre, a beautiful Beaux-Arts venue home to many of the Bay Area’s premier cultural and performing arts organizations. We’re pushing the theatre into the future with three audiovisual works that will engage all five senses and then some: “Shiro” by the French-Japanese duo Nonotak, which fuses light and sound in geometric harmony; the U.S. premiere of “Three Pieces With Title” by Quebecois artists artificiel (aka Alexandre Burton and Julien Roy), which relies on an artist-built instrument merging cameras, synthesizers, acoustic instruments, computers, and projectors; and the U.S. premiere of “SpaceTime Helix” by Italian multidisciplinary artist Michela Pelusio, where quantum physics meets audiovisual experimentation.
