Kazbah w/ Miyagi and Brian Cid
The Kazbah is back.
Bringing you a few of our favorites from The Playa, Miyagi, Brian Cid, and our own Aladino.
DJ and producer Miyagi has created and developed his very own unique sound during the past years. A mixture between deep house, tech house and techno draws through his tracks, as well as his DJ-sets, producing a deep, hypnotic and melodic atmosphere.
His productions are released on labels like Katermukke, der turnbeutel or Einmusika and have been remixed by artists like Dirty Doering, Einmusik, Kiki, Fairmont, Sasse, Sascha Braemer or Oliver Schories. Besides this, he also runs the label Rennbahn Records with his friend Thomas Jager.
In 2014, the release of his debut album “Forever“ on Oliver Schories' label der turnbeutel continued the success of his previous releases. "Forever" instantly rose to the fifth position on the Beatport Deep House Top 100.
Worldwide bookings are scheduled to take Miyagi across the globe to play gigs everywhere from Chicago, Berlin, London, Copenhagen and Ko Phangan, to Seoul, San Francisco, New York and Paris. Besides playing huge festivals like Burning Man, Fusion Festival and Sonne Mond Sterne, Miyagi also still hosts the wicked WEIRD events in Hamburg, which are renowned among the most popular and successful local events.
One of the most intriguing things about Brian Cid is the way his mind works: fresh faced producer/DJ to the underground house music scene that’s no amateur around a studio also as a mixing/mastering sound engineer. He's had in studio work with the likes of Danny Tenaglia, Hot Since 82, Guy J, Thugfucker, and Groove Armada, to name a few. In fact, Brian has also worked in the background for some of the biggest names in the Hip Hop and Pop as well. "Cid is a producer's producer, the kid of rare genius who experiences sound as shape and texture before it goes into waveform." (DJ Mag)
Emanating clarity and focus–on both a personal and musical level–rare for one of his years, Brian brings a new breed of talent driving modern dance music.
It could be said that within Brian’s role as a mix and mastering engineer is where he discovered his great love affair with house music—a genre without boundaries that vibrates with him in such a way that he can freely express himself.
After discovering this new found calling, Cid was inspired to whip up a three track EP that eventually lead to receiving a call from seminal house legend, Todd Terry saying he loves the tracks and wants to sign it under his imprint Inhouse Records.
Thereafter, the symphonic path became clear and within just a few years manifested into an impressive back catalogue of innovative, genre-defying club jams that are best described as a fusion between the impetuous old school with bourgeoning new school of house-but not-house music; lush, sublime, unexpected, melodic and fresh.
The fruits of all his labors paid off – Brian not only released an EP on Todd Terry’s label, but also caught the eyes and ears of reputable east coast house label, Nervous Records not to mention Hot Since 82 who signed and continues to release several of Brian’s tracks on his own label Knee Deep in Sound.
With having a fascination with nighttime culture since he was a teenager, and thanks to some memorable club experiences headed by some of NY house scenes’ finest such as Danny Tenaglia—Brian’s DJ career was born out of his organic talent for mixing sounds that people can actually dance to. In a matter of time Brian became a regular name on the bills of NYC biggest mainstays such as Output, Verboten, Cielo, Pacha, Marquee, Sankeys and Electric Daisy Carnival. These clubs also became his testing ground where he could bring his tracks to life outside of the studio and see firsthand the crowds’ reactions that he had been hearing about from his many supporters.
With Brian’s infectious energy and warmth that flows naturally out of him matched with savvy and style for modern club music—he is leaving an indelible impression on the wider musical sphere.
Innovative, driven and humble, Brian continues to move forward at an unrelenting pace with a host of opportunities on the horizon including continuing to run his label Extinct Records, his radio show on Frisky Radio called Extinct Private Sessions, a calendar full of releases along with an international tour, the best yet to come . . .
