As Theo Parrish said 'Love of the music should be the driving force…With that love, sampling can become a tribute; An expansion on ideas long forgotten'
Adesse Versions started out as a simple re-edit series, with humble ambitions of self releasing a few white labels. However the project kept growing, with original productions and remixes appearing amongst the edits. Tracks such as Baayi, Pressured and Modall have found favour with icons such as Derrick May, Larry Heard and Gilles Peterson. Major record companies have also taken notice, resulting in a remix of Henry Krinkle for Sony music.
As Adesse Versions, Kevin Gorman is paying tribute to his musical idols and creating timeless music for the body and soul.
A former mainstay of the techno world, his music as Kevin Gorman graced labels such as Curle, Ostgut Ton and his own imprint Mikrowave.
William is a Bay Area DJ who has worked with As You Like It since 2010. He maintained a residency ExYo at Wish in San Francisco and at Zughaus Gallery in Berkeley. His inviting take on dance music explores deeper, melodic sounds with an appreciation for unpredictable rhythms and plenty of bass. He has played for many favorite local crews beyond AYLI, including Direct to Earth, Housepitality, The Boombox Affair, Forward, Werd, Qoöl, Bubble, SET, and Sound Department.
Some of William's highlights include warming up for Ripperton, Max Cooper, Maayan Nidam & Konrad Black, Henry Saiz, Matthew Dekay & Silicone Soul, Sishi Rösch, and Tiger & Woods. William's exposure to world-class dance music started while studying abroad in London and attending events at Fabric nearly every weekend. Getting lost in that all-encompassing environment put the sounds into context. Kontrol parties, Sunset Sundays, and unlicensed undergrounds are key influences. William's respect for the local scene pushes him to discover new music and share the unique sounds he loves.
We're a couple of DJ's that take the old classic disco sound and play it a little bit slower, making it relative with a sound that everybody and anybody is familiar with. We also like to mesh traditional dance music with more current house tracks, so people of all ages can relate to our sound.
