After Dawn with PunkPhunk, Vedda and Mike Frugaletti
After Dawn is a weekly Sunday morning party at Monroe, this week the We Love us Crew is taking over so you can keep the party going!
About this weeks line up :
>>> PunkPhunk (We Love Us, SF)
With every transition and twist of an EQ knob, PunkPhunk entices his crowd to join him on a musical journey, as he carries listeners through time and space, soaring high through piercing treble notes and down through the valleys of warbling bass in an emphatic search of freedom from the burgeoning limitations of day-to-day. From isolating and powerful vocals, to pumping bass lines, his sets keeps the crowd on its toes and draws them in even closer as he tells a story each and every time he hits the decks.
>>> Vedda (We Love Us, SF)
Vedda was born February 13th 1978 in La Paz, Bolivia. His early music influences consisted mainly of percussion based Andean tribal music, disco and 80's new wave . At the age of 12 he became fascinated with the funky base lines and hard hitting kick drums used in electronic music. By 15 he attended raves on a regular basis in an effort to absorb as much of the DJ and house music culture as possible. Four years later he purchased his first set of turntables and spent every waking hour between school and work (sometimes sacrificing sleep) practicing to become one of the foremost house DJ's in the city by the bay. Now, he incorporates his childhood love of Andean music with the deep, funky baselines produced in house music, with a zest for beats unlike any other, into an eclectic mix of funky yet remarkably sexy techouse. Vedda continues to spread his vibe worldwide, but calls San Francisco home for his family and music
>>> Mike Frugaletti (We Love Us, Common Ground, SF)
Bay area native Mike Frugaletti was brought up in a life of music on the other side of the decks as a b-boy and spectator. Witnessing countless sets from prominent DJs such as Derrick Carter, Doc Martin and the Wicked Crew his passion for music and led him to a meteoric rise in the bay area as a DJ and producer. Over the years he cultivated many relationships and held down residencies at the infamous Kit Kat parties held at the SF staple The Endup and DHP (Deep house project) events which occurred all over the bay area. Always a music lover and player he tested the production waters and quickly rose to the challenge releasing tracks on various labels across the world, including bay area famed Tango recordings, Brazilian based Lunatic Jazz and Warner Music Brazil. Now based back in the bay area, Frugaletti has joined forces with British born, but Oakland based producer King Kooba of OM Records fame to create DUMROK RECORDS, a new outlet for years of back catalogue and loads of new music from King Kooba and friends.
